Relief for Youth During the Hot Summer Months

As a community, we have always been a beacon of hope for the youth and young adults facing homelessness. Your unwavering support has transformed despair into relief, rejection into acceptance, and helplessness into empowerment. Today, we call upon you once more to extend your generosity during this critical time by making a gift to The Relatives.

With summer upon us, we are confronted with the challenge of staggering and debilitating heat that many youth in our community have no way to escape. Just last week, Freddie, a Case Manager at On Ramp, encountered a young man named Preston who was desperate to escape the oppressive heat and humidity. Freddie, always ready to help, was moved by Preston’s plea: “Mr. Freddie, I really hate to ask this, but can I have a bus pass? It’s just too hot to walk to On Ramp every day, but I really need to get there.”

Young adults like Preston lack the comfort of air conditioning, the convenience of a car, or the support of family. The Relatives are their family, and we are committed to providing the support they need. During the summer months, we expect to see a 50% increase in the young adults we serve at On Ramp. Runaways are at their highest rate because schools are closed, and our young kids at the Crisis Center are now with us around the clock. We need your support to meet the need and fulfill our promise to these youth.
